Hello, Dolly! is a musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, based on Thornton Wilder's 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1955. On January 19, 2016, it was announced that Bette Midler will star in a revival on Broadway in the title role. The production is produced by Scott Rudin, directed by Jerry Zaks and choreographed by Warren Carlyle. Previews began March 15, 2017, with an opening date of April 20, 2017, at the Shubert Theatre.
