"Violet" tells the story of a young woman's journey, both physically and emotionally, as she travels from Spruce Pine, NC to Tulsa, OK in order to find an televangelist preacher whom she believes can heal the scar that disfigures her face. On her way she meets and befriends Monty and Flick, a white soldier and an African American soldier traveling together to their base. Though initially falling for the pretty Monty, Violet and Flick connect on a much deeper level. Violet visits to the preacher and after an emotional catharsis though no physical change, she returns rejoicing to the soldier's base rejuvenated. After realizing that her face has remained the same, Flick consoles her and they realize that they see past each other's appearance and look at each other and simply see each other for who they are.
